It’s a “Room Five” debut for Ronnie’s Trio; but the drummer is no stranger on the Cornish jazz circuit.
Restormel Arts regulars will remember’s Ronnie’s Quartet performance at Lerryn Memorial Hall earlier this year; and his quartet’s previous performances at Duchy Nursery for ‘Lostwithiel Jazz Cafe’.
Jazz fans elsewhere in Cornwall may recall Ronnie’s appearance earlier this summer with Ralph Freeman’s Quartet at St Ives Jazz Club; featuring trumpeter Steve Waterman. Ronnie also appeared at St Ives with pianist John Horler’s ‘Celebrating Bill Evans’ Trio in recent years.
That band (with Alec Dankworth on bass) went on to play two (sold out) shows at Ronnie Scott’s; plus a live appearance on BBC Radio 3’s In Tune – not to mention an upcoming show at Ronnie’s next month; marking a breakthrough year for Ronnie.
Ronnie is joined by long-time musical collaborators: Marcus Vergette on bass; and Joss Kidd on guitar.
